Treats that trick

Halloween sneaked up on me this year, but I want to offer a last-minute public service announcement:

Treats do not agree with every child.

In fact, for some children, eating Halloween candy is more like a nasty trick.

For many years, we failed to notice the pattern, but when we did, it became crystal clear.

Anytime our son ate something with artificial coloring, artificial flavoring or “natural flavoring,” he would have a total meltdown. Tantrum city.

It took what has become known as “the Weekend of Orange” for us to make the connection.

But once we did, we changed our diet — and that changed our life.

A fuller version of our story begins here.

This image makes me shudder.
